About the Prostatic Center

Directions to the Prostatic Center Letters from patients of the center About Leonid Korik, D.D.S., Ph.D.

The Prostatic Center specializes in the diagnosis and the treatment of prostatitis. We do so thoroughly, systematically, and discretely.

We perform:

  • A general physical examination because diseases such as tonsillitis, hemorrhoids, sinusitis, any abcess formation and even dental caries can lead to an infection of the prostate gland.

  • A thorough examination of the accessory glands, posterior urethra, verumontanum, seminal vesicles, epidydimis, and testicles.

  • Special examination of the prostate gland -- digital examination, with examination of prostatic secretions, cytological examination, wet mount preparations examinations, cell staining techniques with microbial culture with determination of sensitivities to antimicrobials.

Our practice utilizes fluorescent microscopy and other cytologic techniques to aid us in making a diagnosis of chronic prostatitis, and we use these special techniques to follow resolution of disease while on appropriate therapy.

The presence of chronic prostatitis can be established by microscopic analysis of the prostatic fluid, enabling us to detect alterations in the nuclei of the epithelial cells lining the small glands of the prostate. This effective technique is exclusively practiced by the Prostatic Center.

In addition to our own laboratory, we work in partnership with UROCOR Lab in Oklahoma which processes a large number of our prostatic secretions specimens and blood tests. This helps ensure the accuracy of the diagnosis.

If necessary, cystoscopy may be performed, urodynamic studies done, sonograms, and radiographs will be performed to help resolve your urologic problem.
